Choosing a Blog Template: Blogger Vs WordPress

By
When choosing a blog template the question come up about Blogger or WordPress. They want to know which is better.
Now at this point I could list all the pros, and cons of both platforms. The list would show you reasons why Blogger might be better, and then give examples of when to go with WordPress. It would be nice and diplomatic...
But, why waste all that time and space?
In my humble, but accurate opinion there is only one clear option - WordPress.
That was easy. In under a hundred words you have your answer. So, go ahead and install WordPress, and start enjoying your blogging experience.
What? Why are you still here? You have your answer - seriously this is not a trick. Blogger runs a distance second, and is not a serious option for most bloggers.
Why? OK, let me give you 5 reasons why WordPress is superior to Blogger:
1. Flexibility - The platform can be hosted at pretty much any site. You can have WordPress.com host your blog, or you can take it to your own domain. Hosting your blog on your own domain gives you much more control. This leads perfectly into the next point...
2. Customization - With the right theme and or plugins you can make your blog do just about anything. Your website can be setup to look like a traditional blog, a community portal, membership site, e-commerce store, and on and on. If you can imagine it, there is probably a template which can just about any situation.
3. Plugins and Widgets - Blogger has plugins and widgets. But, the sheer quantity and quality available to WordPress is staggering. They get the nod in this department. The reason is because of the next reason...
4. Massive development community - Because so many people use WordPress as their blogging platform it has created a huge development community. It's popularity is reason there has sprung up a massive development community. More developers are attracted to this huge market for a simple reason - There are customers willing to spend money on their blogs.
Don't misunderstand me, WordPress is a free blogging platform. You can install it without paying one red cent. The free themes, plugins and other options give you the flexibility to run a very powerful blog. The point I'm trying to make is there is a large market for premium additions, and enhancements.
5. Ease of installation - It use to be said Blogger was better for beginners because of their ease of installation. A few simple clicks of a button and you were set to get started. But, this not the case anymore. With options like Fantastico, Simple Scripts, and others makes WordPress a simple push button installation.
